Armenians and Georgians soon settled in the Pontic Alps, now Kaçkar. The Turks gradually occupied the area from the 11th century, but the area remained ethnically mixed; Turkish, Hemşin and Laz are the languages still used. Kaçkar is one of the richest biodiversity areas in the world. It has huge areas of evergreen forest, mountain pastures, glaciers and glacial lakes. Since 1980 this area has been within a National Park. With attached card, in English.
