Spit in Dolomiti

Bolts appeared in the Dolomites in the early 1980s, at the same time as the explosion of sport climbing. A technical and cultural revolution that has begun to transform the world of climbing, marking its future indelibly. 40 years have passed since then; from the appearance of the crags, of the first myths of sport climbing, of the first sport routes on large walls. Today there are hundreds of sports routes and the bolt is universally accepted on the valley floor walls, but it is not always equally accepted in the Dolomites, and in many areas it remains taboo. This book retraces the history of climbing with the salient points of a different attitude towards climbs, from the purist proclamations of Preuss and Messner to the direct routes, from the romantic and courageous vision of generations of mountaineers to high difficulty sport climbing, crossing a path during which the climber's world completely changed. A decidedly compelling novel from which none of the protagonists could be excluded without altering the profound meaning of the plot.
