The island is diamond-shaped and measures just 13 miles (21 kilometres) from Cowes in the north to St Catherine's Point in the south, and 23 miles (37 kilometres) from the Needles in the west to Bembridge Foreland in the east. But within this delightfully accessible radius there are over 600 miles (965km) of footpaths and bridleways and the island is surrounded by 60 miles (95km) of long coastal path.
