“Now, after having murdered our god, we are no longer prey to tension. Prayer has died out, fanaticism has disappeared, we have returned to being sober inhabitants of our sober world." So writes Dusan Jelincic at Everest base camp, after attempting to climb the Roof of the World from the Nepalese side. He finished a journey that took him to the limits of life and then brought him back to the region of men. In this book Jelincic does not talk so much about walls, glaciers, fixed ropes, mountaineering difficulties - the classic ingredients of every expedition diary - but prefers to focus on the inner world of his own emotions and feelings: "As I wrote I realized that I wanted to write something new. And I noticed that the truly new things are the unrepeatable ones. And the only unrepeatable thing is the human soul. The mountain has become an excuse to be able to tell about myself".
