On the Dolomites, nature has worked only in capital letters and in an always different way. A statement, the latter, which is valid for all the Dolomite sectors but which for the Pale di San Martino appears more fitting than ever. And we are not the first to say this: we are only following in the footsteps of much more illustrious predecessors. The Pale di San Martino always leaves a strong sensation of verticality and grandeur, the certainty of being in front of a natural asset that cannot be considered only Italian but, rather, of all humanity. And to best access this asset there are above all paths, many easy and within everyone's reach, others more challenging and often equipped. For this reason, in many itineraries in the guide we have chosen to describe, as the "basic" route, the one that presents the least difficulties, in order to make the area accessible to the greatest possible number of hikers. Variations were then inserted and described on this "basic" route, which may include equipped sections and actual via ferratas, to reach the most hidden but often most majestic corners of these mountains.
