Laghi delle leggende in Piemonte

It is known that bodies of water exert a great fascination in the collective imagination and this is due to various factors. The reservoirs, in fact, capable of giving beauty to the landscape that encloses them, become in myth ideal places for romantic entanglements or, by virtue of the large dark mass of water they contain, places of mystery capable of hosting monstrous figures or beings of unprecedented evil. The relationship between lake and legend, therefore, is an absolute, total relationship, a relationship in which the two terms become complementary in an almost inseparable form. In fact, the legend originates from the lake which explains its existence almost as if it were a real event, and in some cases even determines its name. This book aims to identify the Piedmontese mountain areas where this relationship is closest, to reveal their meaning and to explain, with environmental and anthropological notes, the most evocative itinerary to reach them.
