We thought we would create this mini guide to the Sila National Park especially for the visitor who ventures to discover this splendid plateau for the first time and needs useful information. It is, in fact, a quick, flexible guide, full of images, a sort of booklet to take with you which contains all the essential information on the history, geography, nature and landscape of the wonderful protected areas of Sila. The care of this work was entrusted to Francesco Bevilacqua, a well-known connoisseur of the natural beauties of Sila and, more generally, Calabria, who, through texts and photos, knows how to describe the Park territory with great skill and deep passion. The guide also offers a section dedicated to itineraries, walks within everyone's reach, and suggests practical advice, reminds you of the rules of behavior in the Park, illustrates the flora and fauna typical of the Silane protected areas. Sila is an area that has always been remembered for its exceptional beauty, mainly mountainous, eighty percent dominated by forests, woods and meadows, with an extraordinary biodiversity. Places such as the "I Giganti della Sila" nature reserve still preserve intact the beauty of uncontaminated nature and the "giants", monumental trees that are over a hundred years old, allow the visitor a unique journey in a place where the present is forgotten and the ancestral call of nature becomes very strong.
