Le Vie Francigene del Sud in bicicletta - 1 - La Via Latina Roma - Benevento

The first stretch of the Via Francigena in the South leads from the heart of Rome to the little-known Benevento, covering approximately 330 km between Lazio, Campania and Molise. The itinerary immerses itself in the Lazio landscape dominated by the Prenestini and Ernici mountains, crosses the Sacco, Liri and Comino valleys and reaches centers rich in history such as Palestrina, Anagni, Alatri, Ferentino, Atina, Aquino, Cassino and its abbey , a point of reference for European spirituality and culture in the Middle Ages. It then enters the Volturno plain, between Molise and Campania, where it meets the ancient municipalities of Venafro and Alife, continues into the Telesina valley, dotted with thousand-year-old abbeys, small villages and vineyards, and reaches Benevento, a crossroads for Puglia and Orient.
