On the route of the Via Appia Traiana, Via Francigena in the South, there is a great historical, monumental, archaeological and cultural heritage of fundamental importance for the construction of the European identity. This Route, as a European Cultural itinerary, can be an opportunity to create a "Sustainable Development Project", jointly valorising the resources of the territory, drawing inspiration from the "good practices" that have determined the success of the path to Santiago de Compostela. The role of widespread associations, of volunteering, of cooperation between public and private entities, between lay people and religious people who share strategies and methodologies, exploiting the strength of network dynamics.
