At the foot of Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, Gran Paradiso and Monte Rosa, the Aosta Valley is a small Eden for mountaineering, hiking and skiing enthusiasts. This guide is dedicated to them, but also to less experienced walkers, tourists and families with children. The large number of Aosta Valley refuges proposed by the author includes very different structures: from classic wood and stone constructions, between 2000 and 2500 meters above sea level, where it is possible to eat, rest, admire the view, to mountain refuges 'high altitude, originally small huts next to the glaciers, which retain the function of support points at the base of classic mountaineering ascents. Furthermore, some refuges in the Aosta Valley are accessible only to expert mountaineers or hikers accompanied by an alpine guide. Most can be reached without problems by everyone and others, suitable for family walks, have been created a short distance from the villages and the valley floor.
