The grandeur and verticality of the walls, the delicate color of the rock, the luxuriance of the forest cover on the slopes and the valley floor, the richness of typical and sometimes exclusive forms of life, the presence of significant cultural testimonies, mean that they represent the place to which visitors from from every continent. The wealth of paths and mule tracks, traced by the ancient relationship between the local community and these same mountains, however risks disorientating the hiker in the absence of precise technical indications. The guide, with 27 itineraries described, therefore aims to offer first of all the opportunity to rationally choose the route or routes on which to undertake the discovery of the Ampezzo Dolomites; at the same time it aspires to offer these same mountains to an interdisciplinary reading, which manages to combine aesthetic pleasure with naturalistic discovery and knowledge of the ethnographic and historical aspects in which they are rich.
