Alpago is a fascinating basin surrounded by a circle of mountains that are reflected in Lake Santa Croce, the second largest lake basin in the Veneto. The Cansiglio is first of all a vast forest that extends around a plain shaped by karst. The naturalistic, faunal, geological and vegetational aspect is therefore very important, and the historical links of these areas with Venice are of great interest, which refer above all to the use and conservation of the forest heritage. The ethnographic aspect is then particular, which concerns the presence of the Cimbrians and, more generally, a vast heritage of rural architecture.
