The beech and fir forests of Monte Amiata, the vast horizons of the Chiana, the harsh and severe landscapes of the Crete Senesi crossed by the medieval Francigena offer different emotions. Further south, on the border with Lazio, the canyons, tombs and "vie cave" of Pitigliano and Sovana offer some of the best-known and most evocative landscapes of Etruria.
