After 9 years here is the second edition of Alpine Ice, operating in 4 languages and the only one of its kind in Europe, which presents a selection of the most attractive ice waterfalls between France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria and Slovenia. There are many new features, fantastic valleys that are worth the trip from wherever you start, mythical itineraries that have made the history of iceclimbing and others that are little known, but of great character. It was therefore necessary to divide the work into two different volumes: Alpine Ice vol.1 France, Switzerland and Italy – Western Alps and Alpine Ice vol. 2 Austria, Slovenia and Italy – Eastern Alps. The two books are obviously interconnected and together they compose the complete picture of the Alpine arc. There are approximately 700 climbs described in this first volume and to facilitate those who struggle to orient themselves, the "mug" photos of each flow, the geographical coordinates of the car parks and almost all the streets have been included via a simple QR code. Increasingly precise information which must not, however, take away the sense of the unknown that remains in undertaking the climb of a waterfall, but must be stored and analyzed in order to reduce risks to a minimum.
