Aspromonte, a unique mountain where primordial nature was the backdrop to criminal events. From the brigand Musolino to kidnappings. And it was precisely in those tragic years that the desire to peacefully reclaim Aspromonte through hiking was born. The police had a decisive role, but what was important, from a social and image point of view, was the prospect of sustainable development with guides who accompanied tourists, refuges, cooperatives, marked paths and inhabitants of the villages who offered hospitality in their homes. Creating the conditions for the establishment of the Aspromonte National Park, therefore a beautiful, free land worthy of the redemption it deserves. The itineraries, some unpublished, are the result of careful documentary research and exploration of the places and which combine the narrative of the criminal events with the naturalistic description of the sites where they took place. Routes to discover waterfalls, woods, villages, valleys, mountains, natural monuments, people, traditions that make this mountain a precious treasure chest in the center of the Mediterranean. Mannoli, Sant'Alessio, Laganadi, Monte Perre, Canovai, Pentidattilo, Casalnuovo, Montalto, Piani di Carmelia, Monte Fistocchio.
