Crags of Friuli Venezia Giulia and in the neighboring lands of Slovenia. The history of climbing in Friuli Venezia Giulia is perhaps one of the most important in Italy given that it was born from famous mountaineers such as Comici and Carlesso, who "invented", already in the early years of the last century, Val Rosandra and Dardago as terrain of training at the majestic walls of the Dolomites. This region, divided into three distinct areas, contains countless and often enchanting cliffs of various sizes and types, suitable for both beginners and those who want to attack extreme grades. They range from the feared cliffs of Erto, known throughout Europe, to the small cliffs immersed in the Friulian Dolomites Park, to the rocks of the Tarvisio area and upper Carnia where the small limestone jewel of Avostanis stands, one of the most beautiful high-altitude cliffs in Italy. The Trieste area, very rich in cliffs and very strong climbers, stands out with the Costiera and the Napoleonica, while around the corner, across the border, on Slovenian soil, the three enormous cliffs of Osp, Mišja Pec and Crni Kal await us, temples of European climbing, on whose walls the strongest climbers in the world test themselves.
