Dusan Jelincic returns with the story of the experience on his third eight-thousander, Gasherbrun II (8035 m.) climbed in 2003, after Broad Peak and Everest. Born in Trieste, but Slovenian by origin, he suffers from the condition of a foreigner in his homeland, forced to deal with prejudices and misunderstandings. However, he was the first Trieste native to have climbed an eight-thousander, when he was invited to join an expedition made up of the Triestians Marco Tossutti, Sandra Canestri and Miro Chert and the very strong Tarvisians Nives Meroi, Romano Benet and Luca Vuerich, he joined with enthusiasm. Gianbattista Galbiati from Bergamo is also part of the expedition. For the record, during the same expedition, the three Tarvisians will complete the Gasherbrun I - Gasherbrun II - Broad Peak crossing. But due to his shy and introverted character, Jelincic faces this adventure with caution, almost with awe towards colleagues more famous than him. The book reflects his introspective attitude, full of doubts and always looking for answers to his internal questions, not only mountaineering but also philosophical and political. Ideally divided into three parts (the preparation phase, the victorious and solitary assault on the summit, the return) the book gives us not only a mountaineer of value, but also a man of great depth.
