Winter 8000

Winter 8000 is the latest work by Bernadette McDonald, an award-winning Canadian writer specializing in mountains and mountaineering. The book, smooth, compelling but meticulously detailed, dedicates a chapter to each of the 8000 meter giants and tells of man's challenge to conquer the summit in winter: Everest, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Cho Oyu, Kangchenjunga, Annapurna, Lhotse, Shishapangma , Makalu, Gasherbrum II, Gasherbrum I, Broad Peak, Nanga Parbat and K2. These are the names of the legendary peaks to which McDonald dedicates in-depth chapters, retracing the exploits of the Poles, the first attackers of the winter 8000m under the pressure of Andrzej Zawada's team, and then moving on to the exploits of all the great international mountaineers, including our own Simone Moro, or Tomek Mackiwicz and Elisabeth Revol, known for the dramatic story on Nanga Parbat in 2018. 32 pages of incredible exclusive photos, most of them unpublished.
