Walking through the mountains and frequenting different valleys it will be impossible not to notice how many typologies there are that characterize mountain pastures at high altitude. They very often relate to the permanent structures at the bottom of the valley, but not always; sometimes the model they correspond to is inspired by the environment in which they are found, the availability of construction materials or the particular needs of those who built or operate them. The characteristic that unites them, however, is always linked to the fact that the stay among those homes is an extremely rustic life that requires sacrifices, passion and love for the mountains and for animals. Perhaps this is what not everyone understands when, during an excursion, they come across one of these bergerias. Approaching and talking to those who live and work there means penetrating a world foreign to us, made up of slow rhythms and regular schedules, a world in which the human-animal relationship goes beyond our usual perceptions.
