His mountaineering path took him from the analogue romanticism of the Seventies to the fast digital years of the new millennium, from the rural countryside to the brutality of the Patagonian storms, from the Himalayan vastness to the fiery granite chimneys of the Karakorum, from the horizons of Greenland to the Indian monsoons, from the monoliths verticals of Yosemite to the splendid Julian Alps. As a representative of the Rock'n'Roll generation, Karo brought his energy and rhythm with him to the walls. Dedication, audacity, passion and sincere friendship gave life to the Three Musketeers consortium: Francek Knez, Janez Jeglič and Silvo Karo. His mountaineering career was marked by the imposing walls of Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre, Torre Egger, Bhagirathi, ranging from the Himalayan 8000ers up to grade 8a in sport climbing. He faithfully followed the modern trends of high-level mountaineering, arriving at the light and fast technique. His article Patagonia: Terra Mystica was published in Voices from the Summit (2000). Cerro Torre South Face received the silver gentian for best mountaineering film at the Trento Film Festival in 1989. He crowned his passion for cinema by founding the Slovenian Mountain Film Festival in 2007. In 2010 he became an honorary member of the English Alpine Club, while in his homeland he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Republic of Slovenia in the same year.
