La Via del Tarci

Adapting to the changing times, mountaineering has increasingly made use of modern means of communication to highlight large and small undertakings. In some cases the emphasis and spectacularization with which they were presented far exceeded their historical and sporting value, so much so that sometimes a sort of dichotomy is clearly perceivable. On the one hand there are ascents of great technical and exploratory value perhaps carried out on unknown mountains and on the other those which acquire importance also due to the communicative ability of the protagonists and the easy appeal that certain characteristics have on the general public. From this point of view, climbing an 8000 meter even just by the normal route is undoubtedly more effective than succeeding in an extraordinary and difficult ascent of a 6000 meter peak. There are many climbers who more or less quietly accomplish feats of great value and most of the time their exploits unfortunately remain confined to the sphere of professionals, encouraging a false perception of mountaineering among the general public. Among these silent climbers the figure of Tarcisio Fazzini emerges in all his simple and therefore extraordinary effectiveness. In about ten years, Tarcisio and his companions have shown that imagination and action can lead to incredible results even on walls located a few kilometers from home, without leaving for distant destinations. Unfortunately, the Via del Tarci ended too soon, but its mark must remain and this book, as well as an affectionate tribute from his family, aims to be the witness of a mountaineering style perhaps unattainable, but certainly to be pursued in any case .
