L'Appennino piemontese

The itineraries proposed in this book develop on the Piedmont side of the Ligurian Apennines and reach the main peaks located on the border between Piedmont and Liguria. 56 excursions, 50 mountains, approximately 600 kilometers on foot between the Curone, Grue, Borbera, Spinti, Scrivia, Lemme, Gorzente, Piota, Orba, Erro and Bormida di Spigno valleys. Eleven Apennine valleys with unforgettable landscapes, ignored by mass tourism, abandoned between the sea and the plain, with the circle of the Alps as a backdrop. The proposed routes have a classic, almost mountaineering approach, despite the modest altitude and the purely hiking difficulties: you start from a village at the bottom of the valley and arrive at the tip of a mountain. In fact, it's not just the altitude that makes a mountain. Appearance also matters a lot and this portion of the Apennines fully demonstrates it. The long and green ridge that divides the Curone and Borbera valleys does not exceed 1700 metres, yet, from the Alessandria plain, on clear days, it appears to the east like a very long chain, whitened until spring. To represent the paths, the Regional Technical Map of the Piedmont Region was used as basic cartography.
