Sulla Via Alpina

Walking for the sake of walking... but with an ambitious project in mind: traveling the Alpine arc from Trieste to Montecarlo, alone and without logistical support. This volume reports the diary of the adventure, describes the hardships, the losses, the fears, but also the small great daily joys such as finding a lost trail, arriving at the day's destination, a plate of polenta and a glass of wine. And over everything hovers a feeling of estrangement, of distance from the things of the world: one experiences an often extreme solitude, in a state of suspension, of unreality, of a dream. From this impalpable matter a tragic event takes shape which, in some way, involves the author. Thus the protagonist, against his will, takes on the role of the unaware investigator. Truth or fiction? The boundaries are lost: dream and reality, therefore, (con)fuse and are shaped in the story, like the clouds carried by the wind between the cliffs and rock gorges. The apparently reckless contamination between two very distant genres helps to make reading this diary pleasant and, at the same time, compelling.
