Dolomiti di Fiemme e Fassa

The mountain groups of Làtemar, Catinaccio-Larséc, Sassolungo and Sella constitute a vast area full of peaks in the western sector of Val di Fassa. An area that includes some of the most renowned peaks of the Western Dolomites: there is no hiker who frequents the Dolomites who has never heard of the very daring Vajolet Towers, the Làtemar Bell Towers, the Sassolungo and Sassopiatto or the vertical walls of the Gruppo del Saddle. Those who wish to climb the Dolomite peaks will be able to find in this guide numerous routes for pleasant excursions crowned by reaching the peaks, whose normal routes in some cases do not present particular difficulties, while in others they constitute purely mountaineering routes. The guide provides detailed information on the routes up to 90 mountain peaks but, if we also consider the additional information provided on another 70 peaks close to the main ones, the number of peaks involved in the book rises to a total of 160. For each peak there is a dedicated sheet with a description of the route, ascent times and total differences in altitude, difficulty, necessary or recommended equipment and anything else that may be useful for documenting before climbing the peak. For the peaks that have climbing routes, sketches are also shown indicating the lengths of the rope pitches, the stops, the abseiling points and the difficulties. This information was collected by the authors who climbed all the peaks presented in the book and thanks to the help of passionate friends and collaborators who provided precious photographs for the completion of the work. The hiker who undertakes the proposed routes is therefore presented with numerous possibilities to get to know these Dolomite areas in depth, tackling differences in height that are generally not excessive and on mostly well-marked and signposted paths. Some more isolated and less frequented areas require greater orientation skills and experience, following less obvious tracks, and a little more effort, but they pay off with a renewed sense of adventure and discovery.
