In a village in Cadore, Paco Costantini is a twenty-year-old boy who was orphaned after his father, a climbing legend, fell from a wall during an ascent. Paco inherited Zirio's enormous talent for the mountains, but along with it fate left him with a terrible character. During a lunch with friends in which everyone drank too much, Paco meets Corin, the old rock climber who was second to his father during the fatal climb, and who he holds responsible for the tragedy. The two provoke each other, the situation transcends; but instead of ending in fists, the argument takes an unexpected turn. Corin, in fact, challenges the boy to a walk to the highest refuge. Vertical Destinies is a rough story, of hidden emotions, of unspeakable secrets.
