Cassia Vetus - Flaminia Militare da Arezzo a Fiesole, a Bologna

The “Cassia Vetus” is a magnificent walking journey on the traces of an ancient Roman road between Arezzo, Fiesole and Bologna. 13 days among the enchanting hills of Valdarno, the surroundings of Florence and Mugello; then the Apennine ridge which we cross between splendid paving stones at the height of the Futa Pass, to cross lush beech forests and travel along the ridge which ends only close to the town of Bologna. In search of the ancient road network of the most glorious empire in history, of this extraordinary military artery built in 187 BC, now marked by time and almost erased by the centuries, discovered thanks to the tenacity of two passionate friends from Bologna, Cesare Agostini and Franco Santi.
