The guide has been divided into six stages for a total of over 300 km, with undulating altitude just like the orography of this band of central Italy; in addition to the reference route we have indicated daisy-chain routes (one for each stage) which prove to be an added value for the knowledge of the territory crossed. In terms of preparation for those who intend to undertake a similar cycle-journey, we suggest a training period, with regular outings, above all to accustom the cyclist to a prolonged, daily position on the bike. A bicycle with multiple gears, adequately equipped (travel bags, rear and front lights, bottle cages, etc.) will be essential; finally, everyone knows about the availability of pedal-assisted bicycles which allow even the less trained or those who are older to undertake a similar cycle journey. Finally, an important note: for each stage, among other notes, the presence or absence of railway stations will be indicated. This is because train + bike intermodality plays a significant role for those who decide to do cycle tourism; in this regard, both in the Lazio region and in Tuscany every train with an indicated pictogram has a carriage designed to transport bicycles. The guide is correlated with the altitude of the six stages, tracks downloadable on GPS, in-depth boxes on the historical-artistic, naturalistic, literary and food and wine relevance. We considered it inappropriate to give indications of accommodation facilities - hotels, guesthouses, farmhouses, campsites - which exist in abundance and to leave everyone the type that best suits their needs.
