The Rhine Cycle Route

The Rhine Cycle Path follows one of the world's largest rivers, from its source in the Swiss Alps to its mouth in the Dutch Sea. You cycle for 27 stages through six countries: Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany, France and Holland. This means knowing much of the geography, history and culture of Western Europe. The route is easy, mostly downhill and passes through towns equipped for cycle tourists, on well-maintained cycle paths, ideal for those trying their hand at a cycle touring itinerary in stages for the first time. The natural landscape along the Rhine is wonderfully varied, from high mountains with deep glacial valleys to Lake Constance, the second largest natural lake in Western Europe. Then follow the spectacular Rhine gorges, flanked by fairytale castles and extensive vineyards, then the river becomes wider and you cycle on the world's main river trade artery. In English.
