Year: 2000 Format: 14x22 Pages: 360 Photos: no Mountaineering with its numerous disciplines and related terminology has become an international phenomenon, extending to all continents and the most varied languages. This causes difficulties in understanding for all those who have to consult mountaineering guides and publications, conduct conversations and ask for information in languages they are little familiar with. While specialized dictionaries exist for the main Western languages, partly also in Italian, for the languages of the eastern arc of the Alps the material is scarce and incomplete. This dictionary offers the richest collection published so far of mountaineering terminology in two Slavic languages (Slovenian and Croatian) which are practically unknown in Italy, and a very exhaustive one in a major European intermediate language (German), which we rarely practice. The nomenclature includes not only technical terms of the mountaineering disciplines for rock climbers, ice climbers and skiers but also has a solid basis in topographic and alpine geography concepts useful to hikers for reading maps and for a better understanding of the human environment . A safe reference and reference book and, why not, pleasant to read, which should not be missing on the table and/or in the backpack of every lover of the Eastern Alps.
