The fatal game

Year: 1999 Duration: 52 minutes "No one goes to the mountains to die". It's clear, but mountaineering is a dangerous game, a passion that kills. Accidents happen and Everest is certainly not a mountain to be underestimated. Australian climber Mike Rheinberger, 52, has already attempted to reach the top of the world six times. On the seventh expedition, in '94, he finally managed to realize his dream together with his friend Mark Whetu. But it is already sunset and the two are forced to bivouac: the cold increases, oxygen runs out, and so does their strength. Mark doesn't want to, but in the end, to save himself, he is forced to abandon his friend. So the joy of the summit turns into partial amputations of frozen limbs and the nightmare of being responsible for Mike's death. Getting out won't be easy.
