Nanga Parbat

Year: 2012 Duration: 68 min In June 1970 the Messner brothers reached the summit of Nanga Parbat, one of the fourteen 8,000 peaks on Earth, after an exhausting climb up the Rupal slope. With Günther debilitated by altitude sickness, Reinhold, then 25, led the descent down the Diamir face. But Günther disappeared during his desperate escape downwards, overwhelmed by an avalanche. Reinhold searched for him without success, to the point of exhaustion; six days in the open, without eating and with two bivouacs at very high altitude. He was then wrongly accused of having abandoned his brother. Forty years later, the film retraces in a compelling way the dramatic story which stars one of the greatest mountaineers of all time.
