Year: 2000 Duration: 44 minutes El Puro, the Cigar, is a spectacular conglomerate spire in the Mallos de Riglos massif, Spain. Sharp, vertical, often even overhanging, it was the last of the group to be climbed. And at a high price. Wandering through the memories of the last protagonist who survived those glorious days, the film takes us back to the 1940s, at the end of the terrible Spanish civil war, when the best Iberian climbers tried to breach the inaccessibility of the spire. On the one hand the Aragonese, "legitimate owners" of the monolith and therefore strongly motivated to become the first climbers, on the other the neighboring Catalans who are more prepared and with better means.
