Towards the mid-Seventies, in the Piedmontese mountaineering scene, the name of a young man originally from Vicoforte, in the province of Cuneo, began to emerge. Gianni Comino, with the discretion of someone who acts without desire for success, knows how to look, like an artist, beyond common horizons. Together with his friend Gian Carlo Grassi, he interprets Italian climbing on the ephemeral ice of the phantom couloirs. A crescendo of first repetitions, first ascents and first solo climbs on prestigious itineraries, until the piolet-traction climbing of the seracs was invented.
