“Mountaineering on snow and ice: from classic to vertical” is part of a larger work by the author concerning climbing and progression on different types of terrain. This is a wide-ranging research that addresses both the technical and educational aspects of movement on the vertical (rock and ice) and on classic mountaineering slopes (snow), constituting a useful method for everyone, for those who are learning, for those who want improve and for those who teach. The manual derives from the author's thirty years of experience and from the in-depth study of the safest, correct and most effective movement in different mountaineering situations. The approach that characterizes the Caruso Method is rigorously scientific in dealing with the principles that regulate the movement of weight and limbs, the progressions, the use of tools, and at the same time holistic in considering man in his entirety, at in order to achieve a complete and truly formative experience, for the mind and body. The author believes, in fact, that learning a correct movement is the key to a complete experience, capable of improving the perception and management of one's body but also the understanding and therefore the ability to choose which allows to identify the most appropriate techniques for the context and the moment. These elements are in turn crucial for safety: a precise, natural, conscious movement that exploits the most effective movement techniques (progression, climbing) allows you to significantly reduce the risks associated with mountain practice. In "Mountaineering on snow and ice: from classic to vertical" the author illustrates and describes for the first time all the progressions on classic snow and ice slopes and on vertical ice, many of which are unpublished. Some traditional mountaineering techniques have been revised and improved in execution for greater effectiveness and safety.
